The Story Behind the Local Roots Collection
There is something special about creating a collection that feels like home.
Not just a place on a map, but the places, sights, and little moments that become part of who you are over time.
When I first started dreaming up the Local Roots Collection, I wasn't thinking about trends or what was popular online. Instead, I found myself thinking about the places and details that instantly make me feel connected to Lakeland.
The swans gliding across the lakes.
The historic buildings that give downtown so much character.
The palm trees swaying on a warm afternoon.
The fountains sparkling in the sunshine.
The citrus groves and blossoms that remind us of Florida's roots.
These are the images that inspired this collection.
If you've spent any time in Lakeland, you know there is a certain charm here that's hard to describe. It's not flashy or hurried. It's found in early morning walks around Lake Morton, quiet afternoons downtown, community events in Munn Park, and those moments when the Florida sunshine hits the water just right and makes everything glow.

For me, Lakeland has always felt like a beautiful blend of nature, history, and community. It's a place where swans have become local celebrities, where old architecture tells stories of generations past, and where you can still find beauty in the simple things.
When I started creating designs for the Local Roots Collection, I wanted to capture that feeling.
Not just what Lakeland looks like, but what Lakeland feels like.
I wanted the collection to feel nostalgic and timeless, almost like discovering an old postcard tucked inside a family scrapbook. That's why I was drawn to soft vintage colors, dreamy landscapes, hand-painted florals, elegant swans, and scenes that feel familiar even if you've never seen them before.
Every design began with a memory, a feeling, or a moment of inspiration.
A sunrise reflecting across the lake.
A swan family swimming through the water.
The sight of citrus trees bursting with color.
A walk through town that suddenly reminds you to slow down and appreciate where you are.
One of the things I love most about being a small business owner is that inspiration is everywhere. Sometimes it arrives while I'm driving through town. Sometimes it comes during a morning coffee by the water. Sometimes it's sparked by a conversation with a customer who shares their own connection to Lakeland and Florida living.
The more I worked on this collection, the more I realized it was becoming about something bigger than tumblers.
It was becoming a celebration of place.
A celebration of the places that shape us.
The places that welcome us home after a trip away.
The places we proudly show visitors when they come to town.
The places that become woven into our stories.
I think that's why the name Local Roots felt so fitting.
Because our roots aren't just where we live. They're the experiences, traditions, memories, and communities that help us feel grounded.
For me, many of those roots are right here in Lakeland.
As Rosewood & Sage continues to grow, I hope to create more collections inspired by the places and moments that make life beautiful. I want every design to tell a story, spark a memory, or create a connection with someone who sees a piece of their own home reflected in it.
Thank you for supporting my small business and allowing me to share these stories through my designs. Every order, every kind message, and every share means more than I can express.
This collection was created with so much love for the place I call home, and I can't wait to continue adding to it.
Until next time,
Brittany
