Meet the Maker: My Journey from E-Commerce Production to Small Business Owner
Every small business has a story, and mine started in a fast-paced e-commerce production room, surrounded by embroidery machines, order sheets, and the hum of creativity. What started as a job pulling and filling orders soon became the spark that led me to create Rosewood & Sage—where I now design and craft custom glitter tumblers loved by customers nationwide. Here’s how my journey unfolded!
From Order Fulfillment to Leading Production
Before I ever picked up a tumbler or mixed glitter, I worked in e-commerce production at a small business specializing in custom sorority apparel. My role started with the basics—pulling and filling orders daily, managing inventory, and ensuring everything was packed and shipped on time.
But I wasn’t just there to do a job—I wanted to learn everything about the production process. Over time, I moved up to lead production, where I was in charge of running eight industrial embroidery machines at once, keeping orders moving, troubleshooting issues, and making sure every item met our quality standards. I even taught myself how to operate the machines with only minimal training, determined to master the craft.
The Spark of an Idea: Custom Tumblers
As I honed my skills in custom embroidery and personalized products, I started noticing a new trend—glitter tumblers popping up everywhere. I was drawn to the creativity behind them, the way they could be completely personalized, and how they allowed people to express their style.
That’s when the idea hit me—Why not try making my own?
I started experimenting, researching materials, and testing different glitter combinations. What began as a hobby quickly turned into a passion. I loved the process of designing, crafting, and seeing how much joy a personalized tumbler could bring.
Launching My Own Small Business
In 2019, I officially opened my Etsy shop, selling custom glitter tumblers. At first, it was just a small side project, but as orders started rolling in, I realized this could be something bigger.
I took everything I learned from my production job—attention to detail, quality control, and efficiency—and applied it to my own business. Over time, my designs evolved, and my shop grew into what is now Rosewood & Sage, a brand dedicated to handcrafted, high-quality drinkware that inspires your everyday.
The Journey Continues…
Running a small business is a constant learning experience, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Every tumbler I make carries a little piece of my journey—from working in e-commerce production to becoming my own boss.
